GenNext Volunteers Sporting Green ThumbsAs you drive by Tracks & Wheels on Highway 69 North, take a good look at the rock garden displaying the United Way symbol and name. On the afternoon of Monday, June 25, six of United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts’ GenNext Cabinet members and volunteers braved hot summer temperatures to weed the rock garden. The Tracks & Wheels Equipment Brokers Inc. rock garden was generously donated to United Way several years ago. Since then, staff members and United Way volunteers have maintained the garden. This year, GenNexters felt that it was their turn to pitch in and lend a helping hand. D’Arcy Gauthier, GenNext Vice-Chair, commented “We really want to make sure that United Way is a strong symbol in our city. Driving by, people can now clearly see the symbol and name, reminding them of the great work United Way does in this community.” As a demonstration of support, a number of passing vehicles honked their appreciation for the GenNext volunteers and their efforts.
GenNext is a program that encourages people in their twenties and thirties to become involved with United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts through giving and volunteering. The program creates opportunities for people to support United Way, its member and member agencies, to get involved in the community. |
