2012 President's Message
It is indeed a privilege and an honour to be able to serve the United Way for Sudbury and Nipissing Districts as President for 2012-2013.
It is humbling to follow in the footsteps of our previous presidents who have worked tirelessly to develop, enhance and grow the services and programs of United Way.
As a result of the hard work of the Board of Directors and administration, United Way is well prepared to meet future challenges. Our new three year strategic plan provides us with sound policy directions for our three new areas of focus: From Poverty to Possibility, Healthy People, Strong Communities and All That Kinds Can Be.
Over the past year, United Way’s employees have undertaken a complete organization review for the purpose of improving our organization’s efficiency and effectiveness. Significant progress continues to be made for monitoring and evaluating programs and services supported by United Way.
I wish to express a sincere thank you to our past president, Sandy Bass and our Board members who have given generous amounts of their time and resources. I look forward to seeing Dr. Kevin McCormick and Jean Hanson work with the 2012 Campaign Cabinet!
We had an opportunity earlier this year with the help of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, to open an office in North Bay as well as hire a full time staff member. With this new venture in the Nipissing District, the Campaign will have a different dynamic in that community this year. This will allow United Way to help more social service programs in the community. We want to reinforce that dollars raised in each community, will stay in their respective communities.
As your president for the incoming year, I will endeavour to continue the collective work of United Way and leave our organization as strong as it is today.
Together as a team we will continue to lead the way for improving lives and building communities by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action.
Change starts here.
